Ribeiro sent a farewell message to Sundowns supporters a few days ago and also completed a move to La Liga 2 for an undisclosed fee.

The Brazilian star has been a sensation since moving to the Premier Soccer League, and last season showed how talented and important he was for Masandawana.

After a contract dispute with the PSL giants, Ribeiro decided to drag them to FIFA to find a solution to his contract issues.

Sundowns' bid for Matheusinho rejected

Mamelodi Sundowns are said to be interested in signing Brazilian midfielder Matheus Leonardo Sales Cardoso, who is popularly known as Matheusinho.

According to recent reports by Brazilian publication NE45, Sundowns have presented a bid of 1.5 million euros (approximately $9.5 million or R30 million) for Matheusinho, who is currently on loan at Sport Recife in Brazil’s Serie A, although he is contracted to Portuguese club Santa Clara.

The problem is not with his parent club, Santa Clara; rather, it was Recife that dismissed the proposal, as they are unwilling to part ways with the player so soon after securing him in July on a loan deal, which includes a purchase obligation.

Matheusinho’s loan deal with Recife runs until June 2026, and if the club opts to make the move permanent, they will be required to pay €1 million (around R20 million/$6.3 million) to Santa Clara.

Matheusinho has already made eight appearances for Recife, contributing one goal and two assists, and he's seen as Ribeiro's replacement at Sundowns. Another reason Recife is not ready to lose him soon is that they are battling relegation and need all the help they can get.
