A former PSL star turned pundit, Junior Khanye, has cast doubt on the influence of winger Pule Mmodi at Kaizer Chiefs following another underwhelming performance in their CAF Confederation Cup defeat.

Handed another start, Mmodi failed to shine as Amakhosi suffered a surprise 1-0 loss to Angolan Girabola side Kabuscorp SCP on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

Kaizer Chiefs qualified for the preliminary rounds of the continental competition by winning the Nedbank Cup last season, which was their first title in ten years.

Khanye calls out Pule Mmodi

Khanye, while reacting to Kaizer Chiefs' defeat against the Angolan side, singled out a player and explained the issues he has with him.

The ex-Chiefs winger was blunt in his assessment, insisting that Mmodi offers nothing to the team.

“When you, as a coach, check that you’ve lost 3-1, you play Mmodi, who didn’t give us anything,” he said.
“Nabi used to play this guy about 10 games in a row. What does he offer? Nothing! Box entry, no shot entry. Negative. Always the one who has to track back. I’m not too sure.”

Khanye has mostly been on the wrong side of fans with his analysis, but on this particular issue with Mmodi, he had the backing of most netizens, who agreed with him on social media.

"I've been talking about how Mmodi useless is for quite some time. The guy has delivered nothing, no killer passes,no shot on target. He is good on losing the ball and making back passes."

Ten Ten Mvelase reacted:

"Yaz sometimes before you criticises a player you must ask yourself some deep question🤞.Modi he only need a striker who knows how to position himself at chiefs we still need that type of a striker .A winger once he passed two defenders you must know now he need an assist."
