Mosimane wants Bafana Bafana to build beyond tournaments
Speaking during his unveiling on 1 September, Mosimane explained that his plans extend beyond individual international windows.
“I want to package Hugo Broos, his technical team and the players that have travelled the journey,” Mosimane said, as reported by KickOff.

He said the previous regime had established a new standard and that his task was to build on it rather than begin again.
“The team has set a new benchmark for Bafana, and we know where the benchmark is. My responsibility is to build on that foundation, take it forward and raise the standard further,” he added.
Bafana Bafana talent pathway among key priorities
Mosimane also wants greater focus on identifying and tracking younger players who could eventually move into the senior side.
“We need to know our players, and we need to track our players in the 23s, when to feed and unearth talent,” he said.
His approach comes as Bafana prepare for the 2027 AFCON qualifiers. CAF confirmed South Africa will face Guinea at home on 26 September before travelling to face Eritrea on 30 September.

“AFCON matters, the World Cup matters, very important, but our responsibility goes beyond any one tournament,” Mosimane said.
Mosimane also placed strong emphasis on the responsibility and identity attached to representing the national team, making it clear that a Bafana Bafana call-up should carry real significance.
“Wearing a Bafana jersey is earned, and it’s a culture,” he said.
That message will now be put into practice as Mosimane begins his second permanent spell in charge. His immediate priority will be guiding Bafana through the 2027 AFCON qualifiers, while also laying the foundations for the longer-term structure and player development system he has outlined.
