New applicants and ongoing University of South Africa students who applied for admission in various qualifications can only proceed with the enrollment process after confirming their placement and accepting the same online. As such, successful applicants who kept track of UNISA application dates for 2019 and were accepted in different schools or colleges should secure their place through a time-bound registration process. Failure to register within the required period risks one losing their place. It is worth noting that the university holds the rights to cancel wrongful admissions that do not comply with the underlying rules and regulations.

The University of South Africa accepts registration submitted through different platforms among them online, fax, post, and self-help. Both successful applicants and re-registering applicants must complete their signing up process before starting their studies for the year 2019. Note that learners who would wish to change their qualifications must wait and freshly fill UNISA application forms in the upcoming year to join their preferred courses. For this reason, they will be required to pay the UNISA application fee.

1. UNISA online registration

UNISA web registration is one of the most convenient and highly accessible ways to complete the process regardless of time and location. The first-semester enrollment process kicked off on the 3rd of January and ran through the 25th of January 2019. Eligible registrants must have a student number if they are returning students. On the other hand, new applicants must have received a confirmation for their placement at the institution. All registrants will be given a free email address by the institution. The signing up process takes a couple of weeks to complete after which the university will post notifications, and other relevant materials required ahead of the course.

a. Undergraduate registration

All registrants accepted in undergraduate qualifications including National Diplomas and BTech degree must follow the signing up link on the website, and do as instructed.

b. Postgraduate registration

All registrants accepted in postgraduate qualifications including Honors and Diploma should follow the enrollment link, and follow the guidelines. Those accepted in Master’s and Doctoral category should register using the specific link on the website.

2. Physical self-help registration

The self-help registration method is exclusively accessible at UNISA head office where registrants can access self-help computer terminals. It is advisable to acquaint with all requirements before visiting these terminals now available in different regional offices. Luckily, the computers are set such that registrants follow all the laid out signing up patterns. Should you experience any difficulties, always feel free to inquire from the institution's friendly staff members.

3. Post and fax registration

Kindly validate the information you have provided on the hard-copy UNISA registration form. Any inaccuracies and errors may render your enrollment invalid or delayed causing you unnecessary inconveniences. For this reason, UNISA recommends the use of online registration and self-help terminals to avoid generative errors, but if you are traditional and prefer post and fax methods, make sure that your registration documents, as well as payments, reach UNISA ahead of the closing dates. Registrants should not include any money or wrap it in the enrollment documents. All minimum fees should be paid through Standard Chartered bank branches by accurately providing the student number. Registrants must fax proof for the payment using the contacts provided above.

UNISA registration dates

Below are UNISA registration 2019 dates that you should mark on your calendar as they are key to you pursuing your course at the institution this academic year.

1. UNISA undergraduate registration

Signing up encompasses; advanced certificates, higher certificates, advanced diplomas, diplomas, BTech & degrees, and Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE). Below are the enrollment dates and deadlines for initial minimum payment for the signing up process to be completed.

a. Semester and year modules

  • Registrations open: 3rd of January 2019
  • Registrations close: 31st of January 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 31st of January 2019

b. Students who write examinations in January / February 2019 for year modules

  • Enrollments open: 3rd of January 2019
  • Enrollments close: 8th of March 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 8th of March 2019

c. Semester 2 enrollment for new and returning students

  • Signing up process open: 10th of June 2019
  • Signing up process close: 28th of June 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 31st of July 2019

d. Semester 2 signing up for students awaiting results

  • Registrations open: 16th of July 2019
  • Registrations close: 26th of July 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 31st of July 2019

Registrants should note that initial minimum payments are necessary for your enrollment request to be finalized. All self-help centers are open to the public for registration between 08:00 - 15:30 on weekdays and between 08:00 - 11:30 on official Saturdays. Official Saturdays open between dates 5, 12, and 19th of January 2019. They will also open on the 20th of July 2019.

2. UNISA Honor’s degrees & postgraduate diplomas registration

The signing up dates do not apply to Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE).

a. Enrollment for semester modules & the CTA qualification

  • Registrations open: 3rd of January 2019
  • Registrations close: 31st of January 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 31st of January 2019

b. Signing up for year modules

  • Enrollments open: 3rd of January 2019
  • Enrollments close: 29th of March 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 31st of March 2019

c. Second-semester enrollment for new and returning students

This applies strictly to those honors degrees and postgraduate diplomas with semester modules

  • Signing up procedure open: 10th of June 2019
  • Signing up procedure close: 28th of June 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 31st of July 2019

d. Second-semester registration for students awaiting results

This is strictly for those honors degrees and postgraduate diplomas with semester modules

  • Registrations open: 16th of July 2019
  • Registrations close: 26th of July 2019
  • Initial minimum payment: 31st of July 2019

3. Master's & doctoral degrees enrollment

If enrolling for Masters or doctoral degrees, register before the dates given below

a. Master's & doctoral qualifications

  • Registrations open: 3rd of January 2019

b. Doctor of Business Leadership degree

Learners registering for the MBA and MBL degrees must contact the Graduate School of Business Leadership.

c. MCompt degree

  • Registrations open: 3rd of January 2019
  • Registrations close: 25th of January 2019

A few exceptions apply to the dates above as follows:

Since these courses meet particular learning needs, they do not have specific signing up dates like for the other qualifications.
