Trace Urban filmmaking competition requirements

For you to qualify to take part in the challenge, you ought to meet the following requirements:

  • You should be a Gauteng-based filmmaker.
  • You must be a documented South African citizen.
  • You are required to submit your video within the stipulated promotion period.
  • You must be 18 years or older. Any entrant who will be lucky enough to win the prize without meeting this requirement will be forced to forfeit the prize. The winner will be required to provide an identification document before the prize is presented to them.
  • If you are an employee or close family member of the promoters of the competition or any business associates of Trace TV, you are not legible to participate.
  • The prices cannot be transferred or exchanged for money or any other prizes.

If you are a resident of Gauteng and would like to participate in the challenge, you ought to record a 30-minute video explaining why you love Gauteng. The content of the video is not limited to any scope. You can include the most insignificant details, like the smallest town to the biggest cities like Johannesburg.

Upon recording your video, you will be required to upload it on www.trace.tv. The deadline for submitting the video is on 23rd August 2020 at 11.59.59 pm. After the deadline, the organisers of the competition will go through the videos and select the best five. The best five filmmakers will be contacted and given a stipend worth R5,000, which they will be required to invest in creating a 90-second video. The theme of the 90-second video will be about the breath-taking Gauteng music and lifestyle locations.

The approval of the five 90-second videos will be done between August and September. The videos will then be aired on Trace TV channels to create awareness on the status of the entertainment industry in Gauteng. After that, the public will be asked to vote for their best videos out of the five. The final winner of the competition will be notified via email or telephone within 48 hours after the draw. If the winner is not reachable through email or telephone within 24 hours, the second-best contestant will be declared the winner.
