Somizi has joined other outraged South Africans and blasted news broadcaster eNCA for their alleged racism.
The news channel has been accused of defending racism after one of their reporters was called out for questionable behaviour.
Somizi took to Instagram to share the footage that caused the outrage. He captioned it:
“@encanews still doesn't see anything wrong with this....nothing.....they even issued a statement saying there's nothing racist about this........wow.......and u still gonna tune in as a black person? Andizi ftsek to racists.......let me go get a drink coz, wow I'm fuming right now.”
Instagram user iamvelile said:
“After 25 years, we are still here”
Insecure_fitness said:
“Wow clearly she didn’t get the memo that Covid doesn’t discriminate.”
Mpho17 said:
“Black child you are on your own.”
The media personality is not the only celebrity to call the channel out for their statement, which seems to dismiss claims of racism.
Briefly.co.za reported that news broadcaster eNCA has come under fire after a reporter was accused of racism. Anele Mdoda has joined in with her thoughts on the issue.
eNCA political reporter, Lindsay Dentlinger, conducted an interview with Freedom Front Plus leader, Pieter Groenewald, and the DA’s John Steenhuisen without their masks on, but she requested several Black political leaders, including UDM Chief Whip Nqabayomzi Kwankwa, to keep theirs on.
This has caused uproar among South Africans including Mdoda. The media personality took to Twitter to slam eNCA and their subsequent explanation of the events. She said:
“eNCA should just say we won't get it right all the time and this time around one of our own got it wrong. There is simply no excuse for Madame's behaviour and they know it. We are not idiots and as people who have to deal with subtle racism our entire lives... this is BS.”
Social media users seemed to agree with Anele. Twitter user Mashongwe_neo said:
“I agree as well, they are trying to sweep it under the carpet like nothing ever happened and that’s the most frustrating part! They won’t acknowledge the wrongdoing”
Phutazer said:
“They keep saying our analysis is unfair in that statement. I mean her racism was displayed on national tv for heaven sake....yoooo ba mbora shame. Veder I don't watch eNCA at all.”
