Olivier Award-winning actor Michael Gambon has died at age 82.
Harry Potter's Dumbledore dies
The Irish actor, renowned for his portrayal of Albus Dumbledore in the majority of the Harry Potter film series, has passed away.
According to The Guardian, he died after a battle with pneumonia, as announced in a statement released on Thursday, September 28 by his family.

“We are devastated to announce the loss of Sir Michael Gambon. Beloved husband and father, Michael died peacefully in hospital with his wife Anne and son Fergus at his bedside, following a bout of pneumonia. Michael was 82. We ask that you respect our privacy at this painful time and thank you for your messages of support and love," his publicist said.
Gambon gained widespread recognition for his extensive body of work in television, film, and radio. One of his most notable roles was playing the psoriasis-afflicted detective in the popular 1980s series, The Singing Detective.
Hailing as one of the foremost actors of his era, Gambon was originally born in Cabra, Dublin, but relocated to London during his childhood.
He spent his formative years in a Camden community predominantly comprised of Irish immigrants and his initial occupation was as an apprentice toolmaker.
During his lifetime, he nurtured a lasting passion for antique firearms, clocks and classic automobiles.
Actors pay tribute to Michael
According to CNN, Michael's fellow actor in Harry Potter penned glowing tributes to him.
Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley, wrote:
"So sad to hear about Michael. He brought so much warmth and mischief to every day on set. He captivated me as a kid and became a personal role model of mine for finding the fun and eccentricities in life. Sending all my love to his family, Rupert."
James Phelps, the actor known for his portrayal of Ron's brother Fred Weasley in the Harry Potter film series, shared a tribute to Michael Gambon on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.
He said:
"Very sorry to hear about the passing of Michael Gambon. He was, on and off the camera, a legend. Just a little memory of Michael."
Patrick Ndlovu: Veteran actor passes away
The South African film and television industry is mourning the death of seasoned actor Patrick Ndlovu. Patrick Ndlovu's rep, Moonyeenn Lee Associates, announced the news of the star's untimely passing on Facebook. The statement read:
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of legendary actor, Patrick Ndlovu, whose acting career spanned more than four decades. Patrick was best known for his role as Sizwe Moloi in the SABC1 drama series Zone 14 and as school principal, Mr Thembu, in the popular TV series, Yizo Yizo."
