Icala actress Sannah Mchunu is saddened by the death of award-winning actress Nandi Nyembe, who passed away on Saturday, 23 August 2025.

Mchunu, who recently joined the cast of SABC1's soapie Generations: The Legacy, responded to Nyembe's death on her social media account shortly after the news broke.

The former Gomora actress reacted to Nyembe's passing on her Instagram account on Sunday, 24 August 2025.

Reality TV star LanConco and actresses Manaka Ranaka and Zenande Mfenyana reacted with a broken heart emoji to the post.

The actress's reaction comes after she shared Nyembe's struggles on her social media accounts in April 2025.

The late veteran made headlines earlier this year when a video of her using a wheelchair due to knee problems went viral on social media.

Mchunu touched South Africans when she assisted Nyembe, who shared that she was experiencing financial challenges after exhausting her savings.

Mchunu starred opposite the late veteran actress on Mzansi Magic's hit drama series Icala, where Nyembe played the role of Gogo Twala in seasons 1 and 2.
