South African businesswoman and reality TV star Ratile Mabitsela says having to tell her children about their father's death was one of the hardest things she has had to do.

Speaking on fellow Mommy Club star Nozipho Ntshangase's podcast, Life Lately, on Monday, 17 November 2025, Ratile opened up about not only having to make sense of her late hubby Lehlogonolo Mabitsela's death, but also ensuring that their three children understood.

"I remember having to first explain where he is. They could see he's not around, everyone is there except for him, they're told that their dad is no more, and they wanted answers."

While dealing with her own grief, Ratile shared how she explained her husband's death to her eldest son, 10-year-old Thorišo, in the most child-friendly way possible.

"I remember telling Thori and saying, 'Papa is in heaven, we'll meet him in paradise, probably never again in this life,' and he would ask further questions.'"

Despite the loss of their husband and father, Ratile and the "Mabitsela Trio" are slowly picking up the pieces and making new memories together.

As for Ratile, who now goes by Ratile Boitumelo Mabotja since their separation, she is "healing in motion" and has returned to the things she truly enjoys: content creation, public speaking, fashion, and pageantry.
