Somizi Mhlongo is not one to sulk quietly, and his latest TikTok proved exactly that. The media personality filmed himself on a staircase landing and delivered a punchy motivational message that doubled as a subtle clap-back at controversial podcaster MacG.

In the vertical selfie-style clip, Somizi revealed that his morning took a rough turn when he stumbled across a MacG TikTok claiming that Metro FM had declined to renew the contract for Somizi's upcoming podcast, suggesting that was the real reason he had shifted to the podcast format.

"I was a bit angry," Somizi admitted, before catching himself.”

Somizi finds the silver lining

Rather than hitting back with hostility, Somgaga leaned into his word of the day: finding the silver lining. Somizi Mhlongo said, turning what could have been a PR headache into a marketing win:

"He is the biggest podcaster on the continent, and he has just given me free publicity, and now everyone wants to know what this podcast is about?"

The blow from MacG came on top of another setback he had received just the day before. His manager informed him that one of the sponsors for Somizi's Shades of Pink had pulled out, citing internal company restructuring. He admitted he felt deflated at first, but quickly found his footing. ‘We are 90% sold out. So hey, that's the silver lining,’ he said, brushing off the sponsorship loss with characteristic flair.

He wrapped up the clip with a cheerful ‘Happy birthday Beyoncé,’ a nod to the global icon whose birthday fell on the same day.
