Covert footage from inside a South African courtroom has captured disbarred attorney and reality TV personality Peet Viljoen making his way into a court appearance on Friday, 4 September.

The clip, published by Netwerk24 on TikTok, shows Viljoen arriving at the courthouse while spectators fill the public gallery, the footage carrying an unmistakably tense atmosphere.

Bail denied on 400-Plus charges

Viljoen, who was stripped of his right to practise as an attorney, is facing more than 400 charges linked to an alleged R27.6 million property scheme. The charges include fraud, corruption, and forgery. In August, Magistrate Nicca Setshogoe denied his bail application, a decision that sent shockwaves through Mzansi, particularly given the couple's high public profile following their reality TV appearances.

This was not Viljoen's first knock-back in court. His bail had also been refused in August, keeping him in custody as the case unfolds.

Mel Viljoen in the gallery

His wife, Mel Viljoen, was seated in the public gallery on the day, there to support her husband through the proceedings. The couple had previously made headlines when a separate clip emerged showing Mel visibly emotional and in tears inside a Pretoria courtroom as the magistrate delivered her ruling on the bail application.
