Molemo ‘Jub Jub’ Maarohanye was back in the Germiston Magistrate's Court this week, with the warrant of arrest that had been hanging over him officially cancelled. The development was confirmed by Newzroom Afrika journalist Linda Mnisi on X.
The warrant was first issued after the media personality and musician failed to appear in court two weeks ago, with his legal team citing ill health as the reason for his absence. His defence counsel then submitted an emailed copy of his medical certificate to the court, explaining that the original document had inadvertently been left inside a vehicle following his consultation with his doctor.
Why Jub Jub was in court
The charges against Maarohanye relate to an incident that took place in June in Edenvale, where he allegedly confronted an e-hailing driver and either pointed an object at him or discharged a firearm in his direction. He currently faces counts of discharging a firearm in a public place, as well as pointing an object likely to make a person believe it was a firearm.

After the magistrate accepted the medical explanation, the arrest warrant was struck off the roll, and his R5,000 bail was extended, allowing him to remain out of custody while the case continues.
What happens next
According to X user @LindA_MniSii, the matter has been postponed to 17 September 2026, giving the State time to hand over the full police docket to the defence team ahead of further court proceedings.
