Somizi Mhlongo has never been one to hold his tongue, and his debut podcast appearance on the L-Tido Podcast was no different. The media personality served up a generous helping of shade directed at his former partner Mohale Motaung during the interview, which premiered on 9 September 2026.

Host L-Tido expressed surprise at learning that Somizi and Mohale's union had lasted only nine months. That observation gave Somizi the opening he needed, and he took full advantage of it.

"My partnership with the other person is the reason why they're known today. I'm not going to resurrect their name again," he said, stopping just short of naming Mohale directly.

Somizi on love, travels, and moving on

The podcast appearance was not all shade, though. Somizi also gave listeners a glimpse into his personal standards when it comes to relationships and travel. He revealed that flying first class is non-negotiable for him, and that during his marriage he ensured both he and his husband travelled in comfort.

"Now, I'm never going to fly anyone first class," he said flatly, drawing a firm line under that chapter of his life.

Despite the bitterness that clearly lingers from his divorce, Somizi surprised many by saying that love could still find its way back to him. Should that happen, he confirmed he would not hesitate to get married again.

Somizi and Mohale had a traditional wedding in 2019, followed by a white wedding the following year. Somizi had proposed to Mohale during a holiday in Paris, France. However, their relationship was never formalised as a legal marriage under South African law, despite the very public ceremonies.
