Amanda du-Pont is stepping away from her comfort zone and heading to Réunion Island for the 12th season of Tropika Island of Treasure. The actress, media personality and LeLive skincare founder has been putting in the work ahead of what she expects to be a demanding experience.
How Amanda du-Pont got ready for Tropika Island
Rather than overhauling her entire fitness routine, Amanda took a measured approach to getting competition-ready. She incorporated additional cardio into her training, including running and cycling, building her stamina gradually instead of going all-out from day one.
"I took a slow-build approach, gradually increasing my stamina rather than trying to do everything at once," she explained.

But physical fitness was only part of her preparation. Amanda, who is deeply rooted in her Christian faith, drew on her belief in God to get mentally ready for the uncertainty of island life.
"I'm a big believer in God, and much of what I do starts and ends there," she said, adding that she believes her faith will carry her when her physical energy runs out.
She also sharpened her mind through puzzles and general knowledge revision to prepare for any mental challenges the show might throw her way. Still, she acknowledged that the unpredictability of the competition can only be met with character.
"At some point, you have to rely on your character and how deeply you're willing to dig," she said.
What Amanda du-Pont is looking for in a teammate
When it comes to partnerships on the show, Amanda knows exactly what she wants. Her ideal teammate would share her Christian faith and bring physical strength and cardio fitness to complement areas where she might struggle.
She is also aware of one personal limitation heading into competition: her height.
"The fact that I'm short!" she joked, noting that tasks involving reach or jumping could prove tricky, as could long-distance running and swimming at a competitive level. "I can do both at a cute level, but nowhere near an athletic level, and there are some serious athletes in this competition!" she said.
Beyond the competition, Amanda is genuinely excited about being near the ocean, a place she holds close to her heart. She has previously been involved in environmental work and missions with Greenpeace, and she hopes the intensity of the show will still leave room to take in Réunion Island's natural surroundings.
She sees the entire experience as a chance to learn more about herself.
Tropika Island of Treasure Season 12 premieres on SABC 1 on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, at 21:00, with a repeat airing on S3 on Thursday, 24 September, at 18:00.
