British rapper Stefflon Don has found herself at the centre of online chatter after paying tribute to her late friend, Zimbabwean millionaire businessman Wicknell Chivayo. While the post was clearly intended as a heartfelt farewell, the way it was worded left many followers questioning whether she was aware that Chivayo's wife, Lucy, had also died in the same tragic incident.

Chivayo, who would have turned 46 in November, and his wife Lucy were killed when their helicopter crashed near Marondera on Wednesday evening, 30 September 2026. The aircraft went down in Kudenga Farm at around 5 p.m. while the couple were travelling to Harare.

"My dear friend Wicknell... this one hurts deeply. My heart goes out to you, Lucy, and your beautiful family. I am so incredibly sorry," she wrote. She went on to describe him as "genuinely one of the kindest and most generous people I knew," adding that he always made people feel welcomed and valued.

While she did mention Lucy directly in her opening line, the bulk of the tribute focused on Chivayo alone, which prompted confusion among some readers who felt the tone suggested she may not have known Lucy had also passed away.

An X user, @Kupangende, shared a screenshot of the Instagram story with the caption:

"Mainini varikuziva here kuti Maiguru havasisipowo futi? 😕😭" — essentially asking in Shona whether the artist knew that Lucy was also gone.
