Shauwn "MaMkhize" Mkhize set social media alight this week after posting a video that had Mzansi divided right down the middle.

On 5 October 2026, the businesswoman and socialite uploaded a clip ahead of what appeared to be a getaway, rocking an AM Collection two-piece and posing alongside Era by DJ Zinhle luggage.

"Crushing all bad energies and making room for new beginnings. Sometimes you just need to take a short left, switch off and get moving."

The footage itself was quite the spectacle. At what appeared to be a resort, MaMkhize attempted to pop open a champagne bottle that was resting on a car bonnet. When that didn't go to plan, she placed the bottle back, pulled out a firearm, and fired a shot at it. She then loaded her luggage into a BMW and was driven away.

X users remind Mzansi of SARS drama

The mood on X was a different story entirely. Critics were quick to link the video to MaMkhize's highly publicised run-in with the South African Revenue Service (SARS), which seized a number of her luxury vehicles and high-end assets over an unpaid multi-million-rand tax bill.

"From a convoy of luxury supercars to uber black? Life will really humble you."

Burnerburnerac5 was stunned:

"From LV and a Rolls-Royce to Era by Zinhle and an Uber. SARS, I'm afraid of your ways."

Ntebaleng_ slammed MaMkhize:

"SARS humbled her so bad, she's stunting on some 'support local brands.' Even her so-called celeb friends are nowhere to be seen with her. It's cold."

Whether the clip is a genuine statement on supporting South African designers or a carefully packaged rebrand after a turbulent season, MaMkhize has certainly succeeded in keeping Mzansi talking.
