Shamiso Mosaka did not hold back when Nonku Williams' recent engagement came up on her podcast. The podcaster made it clear that the former Real Housewives of Durban star's modest proposal was not what she had in mind for someone of Nonku's personality.

Williams, who was previously married, announced her engagement to boyfriend Lungani Rammaledi on 11 October 2026, after he surprised her during what she believed was a casual dinner out. The restaurant setting turned out to be the backdrop for his proposal, and the couple were flooded with congratulatory messages from fans and celebrity peers alike.

Just days before the big proposal, the couple celebrated their first anniversary, setting a romantic tone for what turned out to be an unforgettable milestone.

Shamiso Mosaka weighs in on the proposal

On her podcast, Read the Room, Shamiso told co-host Phil Mphela exactly what she thought:

"I did not pick Nonku Williams as someone who would get proposed to via 'Will you marry me' with chocolate syrup on a plate."

When Mphela pushed back and asked whether she expected fireworks, Shamiso confirmed that she did, saying, "Nonku is a fireworks kind of woman from what we see on TV."

Mphela offered a counter perspective, pointing out that public figures sometimes choose private, understated moments over grand spectacles precisely because they want the occasion to be personal rather than performative. Shamiso was not convinced.

"I do believe that less is more. But when it comes to my ring and proposal, more is more," she said. She also argued that if a celebrity is going to scale down from their usual larger-than-life image, they might as well keep the proposal entirely at home.

Listeners who weighed in on the discussion largely backed Shamiso's position, with many noting that years of watching Nonku on The Real Housewives of Durban had set certain expectations. One commenter placed the responsibility squarely on Lungani, arguing that her partner should have gone all out given the woman he was proposing to.

Others, however, were not interested in the debate, insisting that as long as Nonku herself was happy with the proposal, outside opinions were irrelevant.

In 2023, Nonku called off her engagement to her ex-boyfriend Dumisani Ndlazi, also known as Rough Diamond.
