Speaking to DailySUN, Mseleku said the rejection comes with the territory. On the show, he helps men around South Africa build up the courage to propose polygamy to their first wives, an emotionally loaded conversation that often catches women completely off guard. In some cases, the husband is already secretly involved with someone else, and in others, children have already been born outside the marriage.

Because his arrival almost always signals that a polygamy proposal is on the horizon, some wives want nothing to do with him the moment they spot him alongside their husbands. The association is immediate, and so is the anger.

"It's not an easy subject. It's expected that I might not be received at all."

Despite the cold reception he sometimes gets, Mseleku believes the initial shock eventually gives way to something more positive. He said that in the long run, women end up appreciating the honesty that the process brings, even if the truth is difficult to hear in the moment.
