A woman in Cape Town has sparked conversation online after showcasing her compact 14-square-metre apartment in Sea Point, Cape Town. In a video that quickly caught the attention of viewers, she gave a candid tour of the space, describing it as "so small."

The apartment, which is no larger than some people’s bedrooms, highlighted the challenges of living in such tight quarters. She took to her TikTok account under the handle @Chef.anthea. @Chef.anthea explained that she initially owned a double bed but was forced to replace it with a smaller one to free up more space.

@Chef.anthea's bed just took over the entire room, and she pointed out how the furniture had to be scaled down to make the apartment more livable.

During the tour, @Chef.anthea also showcased the kitchen, which featured only the basics, leaving little room for movement. The shower, she noted, was equally cramped, adding to the daily struggle of living in such a limited space. Taking to her TikTok account, she asked people to guess her rent, and many expressed that it could cost up to R12,000 and above, while some suggested that the place should be priced at a low cost, as it is way too small.

While the apartment may be modest in size, @Chef.anthea’s honest glimpse into her daily reality resonated with many South Africans, highlighting the lengths people go to secure a home in Cape Town’s competitive rental market.

Her video went viral on TikTok after being published on 1 September 2025 by the TikTok user @Chef.anthea.
