An American visitor has captured the attention of Mzansi after sharing his experience of trying traditional dishes at Kwa Coach in Soweto.

The video of his food-tasting adventure was shared by the tourist himself under the handle @trentonjdavis, which has since drawn interest online, with many South Africans applauding his enthusiasm for local cuisine.

In the clip, @trentonjdavis started with smoked turkey, taking a bite before immediately nodding in approval. “This right here is really good,” he said, making it clear that the dish had won him over. Each plate was served with pap, a staple in South African households.

He then moved on to smoked beef tongue, admitting he had never eaten it before and didn’t even know it was a common dish. After dipping it into a spicy chilli bean sauce, he tasted it and was pleasantly surprised.

“The beef smoke is good too,” he added.

The food journey did not stop there. @trentonjdavis also sampled pork meat, noting its rich flavour and how well it paired with the pap. Still, it was the smoked turkey that stood out as his clear favourite.
