The video of the woman attracted thousands of likes from online users. People commented on the video, sharing their thoughts on the smart trolleys by Checkers.

In a TikTok video, @jessica_kleinjan sang the praises of Checkers' new initiative to bring checkout trolleys. The woman in Cape Town was raving about the trolley in her video caption. She demonstrated that all she had to do was hold up the items to a scanner on the trolley before putting them in.

According to Shoprite Holdings, the self-checkout trolley does more than help customers skip long lines. The carts also help shoppers navigate the store faster by indicating where items are. So far, there are 10 smart trolleys in operation at Checkers Hyper Brackenfell, and another 10 are at Checkers Constantia.

South Africa slams Checkers self-checkout trolley

Many people were unimpressed by the content creator who did not use the usual tills. People insisted that there was a national agreement not to use this self-checkout service. Netizens complained that with unemployment on the rise, they could not afford to have cashiers out of jobs. Watch the video of the trolley in use below:
