The clip shows passengers aboard a small open boat on a river when a hippo suddenly surfaces close behind the vessel. The animal moves aggressively towards the boat, forcing the guide to accelerate away. Passengers can be heard reacting with shock and disbelief as the hippo closes the gap. The caption read:
"A tourist aboard a guide boat in Botswana captured the horrifying moment the boat she was on was charged by an aggressive hippo."
One of Africa's most dangerous animals
Hippos are widely regarded as one of the most dangerous animals in Africa. Despite their size, they are fast in water and are known to be fiercely territorial. Encounters like the one captured in the Botswana river footage serve as a reminder of the risks involved in getting too close to them in their natural habitat.
