A Mzansi farmer has opened up about the night armed robbers dismantled her entire poultry business in a single visit, leaving her with nothing but the decision to walk away.
The account was shared on Facebook on 27 August 2026 by farming page Plaas Japie, with the caption: “Farm attacks happen to all of us. Stop acting special as if you are the only ones who get attacked.”
In the clip, the woman describes running a commercial chicken hatching operation with a capacity of 60,000 broilers and 30,000 chicks per day before everything came to a halt.
“We were taken out of business overnight,” she said.

Armed robbery leaves farm business in ruins
The robbers arrived with firearms and used them to beat staff members before stealing their personal phones. They then systematically removed all the solar panels and batteries from the property. The total value of stolen goods came to roughly R500,000.
The woman said the trauma was so severe that she told her son she simply could not cope.
“I had to leave my farm for a month,” she recalled.
