CAPE TOWN, WESTERN CAPE —Member of Parliament and the president of the National coloured Congress (NCC), Fadiel Adams, has responded to accusations KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi made during his testimony on the second day of the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry's public hearings on 18 September 2025.
Mkhwanazi was speaking at the Brigitte Mabundla Justice College in Tshwane, where the public hearings are being held. Mkhwanazi said that on 29 October 2024, Adams opened three cases at the Cape Town Police Station. Mkhwanazi said Adams complained about the vetting procedure in crime intelligence, a space which Mkhwanazi says Adams should not play in.

Mkhwanazi blasts Adams
Mkhwanazi said that the information regarding the vetting process within crime intelligence is sensitive. He said Adams' complaint means that he had access to secret information he should not have. Mkhwanazi said Adams is not a member of the joint standing Committee on Crime Intelligence.
He also said that Adams does not play an oversight role in crime intelligence, but alleged that there was an abuse of the secret fund account. He challenged Adams to provide evidence that funds were diverted to purchase vehicles for the Political Killings Task team in KwaZulu-Natal.
What did Adams say?
Speaking to eNCA, Adams said that he did not know why Mkhwanazi was fixated on him. He asked if Mkhwanazi is fixated on him because he was allegedly the reason why former Crime Intelligence Division Commissioner General Dumisani Khumalo was arrested on charges relating to corruption.
"Is he upset that I'm fighting for the release of Sergeant Abonge Nkosi Dlamini, who was arrested on trumped-up charges, who was convicted on case law that doesn't exist by the Political Killings Task Team?" He asked.

Adams also said that the information was slipped anonymously under his office door.
