TAFELKOP, LIMPOPO— South Africans blamed reckless driving after five people died in a head-on collision in Tafelkop in the Sekhukhune district of Limpopo on 25 August 2025.

According to Arrive Alive, the accident happened on the R542. The two sedans crashed into each other in a head-on collision. The five passengers who died were in one vehicle and were all Mozambican nationals.

The deceased included an infant and a child. The drivers of the vehicles were injured and taken to the hospital. The Limpopo Transport MEC Violet Mathye expressed her condolences to the families of those who died in the accident.

Accidents in Limpopo in 2025

Fifteen people died in an accident in Hoedspurit, Limpopo, on 8 February 2025, on the R40. A taxi allegedly carrying staff members of a store caught fire after colliding with a bakkie. The passengers were trapped in the vehicle and died in the fire.

Three people were killed and 55 were injured in an accident on the R36 in Limpopo on 25 March. The accident happened when a truck that carried workers from a company overturned near the Strijdom Tunnel. The truck then fell into a ditch, and the injured were hospitalised.

Four people were killed in an accident on the R81 on 11 August 2025. Four women were killed when a bus overturned near Sekgopo in the Mopani District. The bus was transporting members of the Zion Christian Church from Giyani to Moria.

2 killed in N2 accident in KwaZulu-Natal

In a related article, Briefly News reported that two people, including a six-year-old child, were killed in an accident on the N2 in KwaZulu-Natal.The accident happened on 6 February involving five vehicles.

Two of the vehicles overturned numerous times following the collision. As a result, the passengers were flung out of the vehicles onto the busy freeway. About 10 patients sustained critical injuries and were transported to the hospital.
