GAUTENG - Regan Collis, the man arrested in connection with the deadly Reiger Park shootings, has made his first appearance in court.

The 23-year-old man appeared before the Boksburg Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 12 August 2026, facing four counts of murder following the deaths of four people in Reiger Park, east of Johannesburg.

Collis stands accused of killing two South African Police Service Anti-Gang Unit officers, Constable Thapelo Tlomatsana, 29, and Constable Sphiwe Sibeko, 28, as well as two civilian women, identified as Jaydin Magerman and Rolene Lessing.

The shootings, which took place on Friday, 7 August 2026, drew widespread condemnation and anger, and sparked a manhunt for those responsible.

Collis was out on bail

Investigators have established that Collis is a known gangster with a history of serious charges.

While he does not have any convictions, the 23-year-old was out on bail at the time. He had several pending cases before his latest arrest that included two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder.

His arrest followed a focused manhunt that ultimately led law enforcement to the Germiston settlement, where the officer’s R5 rifles were found.
