GAUTENG - Proceedings in the attempted murder trial of Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala were thrown into disorder at the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court after police officers blocked the accused from speaking to their lawyers following an early adjournment.
Footage from within the court captured the tense scenes, showing officials attempting to usher the accused back to holding cells immediately after proceedings were suspended, while defence counsel objected to being cut off from their clients.
The situation escalated when the accused refused to comply with the officers' instructions. After the chaotic scenes ended, Judge Cassim Moosa intervened and issued a ruling that legal counsel must be permitted to consult with the accused whenever proceedings adjourn early, bringing some order to the dispute.

Confrontation between Matlala and his lawyer caught on camera
While footage captured Musa Kekana clashing verbally with a sergeant during the standoff, it also captured Matlala behaving aggressively toward his legal counsel, Advocate Annalene van den Heever.
Cat could be heard saying, 'Annalene, come here,' before telling her not to waste time. He could also be seen grabbing her hand and teklling her to listen.

Cat Matlala's court appearances have become a bit of a fashion show, as the tenderpreneur is known for wearing flashy outfits to court.
Briefly News reported that he turned heads when he recently appeared in court wearing a Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo suit and pants.
He also sported an expensive Rolex watch and informed the court about the properties he owns, which are valued at R8 million.
