Murder-accused Tristan Perez has been training with Pollsmoor Cricket Club, a Western Province Cricket Association first division D side, while his case moves through the courts.
Former Pollsmoor Cricket Club captain Jamian Hill confirmed Perez's participation with the club in August 2026. Club chairperson Davey Pietersen, however, clarified that Perez had not been formally registered as a member. A review of the 2025-26 WPCA by-laws, code of behaviour and constitution found no explicit rule preventing individuals facing criminal charges within the South African judicial system from participating in club cricket.
Perez's Arrest and Bail
Perez was arrested in March 2026 on allegations of murdering his girlfriend, Elana Brooke, in Heathfield, Cape Town, on 23 March. He was granted R5,000 bail and released from Pollsmoor Prison on 9 April. He subsequently appeared before the Wynberg Magistrates' Court on 7 and 27 August.
His matter is set to be transferred from the magistrates' court to the regional court on 22 September, marking a significant procedural step in the case.

Perez's Cricket History
Before joining Pollsmoor Cricket Club, Perez played for Cape Town Cricket Club and Strandfontein Cricket Club, and was later a member of Claremont Cricket Club, which ended his membership in mid-February 2026. The club cited disciplinary matters arising from conduct it described as inconsistent with its ethos, values and spirit. Perez also represented Ellesmere Cricket Club in the United Kingdom and attended Wynberg Boys' High School.
