Former Kaizer Chiefs captain Tefu Mashamaite has offered a piece of advice to Amakhosi's new skipper, Inacio Miguel, ahead of next season.

Nasreddine Nabi named the Angolan international the club's new captain after Yusuf Maart completed a summer move to Austrian side SV Ried a few days ago.

The Angolan defender handed the leadership role at Kaizer Chiefs after spending just one season with the Soweto giants.

“There are different styles of leadership,” Mashamaite explained on the Jabu Mahlangu Diski Shandis YouTube Channel, as quoted by Soccer Laduma.
“Some leaders are upfront and vocal, saying, ‘let’s go and do this!’ Others lead by quietly spreading positive energy without saying much.
“I believe I fall into the latter category, I lead by example. Most of the guys I’ve played with wouldn’t describe me as ‘nice’ because once I’m on the pitch, I become a different person.”

Mashamaite then reflected on the qualities that make a successful captain, not only at the two Soweto giants but at any club.

“What makes a great team captain? I recall players I’ve played with, no names, but I’ve pushed them so strongly on the field that I made them cry,” he added.
“I have strong communication skills, but once the whistle blows, I transform into someone completely different from the person off the field.

"This is a big mistake. He would have chosen Brandon Peterson. Miquel is all fingers and thumbs making aggressive tackles. He's hot-tempered, and I anticipate suspensions very often. Brandon has been disciplined, and his game has improved a lot. I am impressed.#Amakhosi4Life."

MellyTedo13026 commented:

"Nabi believes in more in Foreign Players than in local players. ⚠️ He wants to turn Chiefs into a Tanzanian Club! 🚨🚨🚨."
