Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi believes his ex-club made the right decision by keeping striker Khanyisa Mayo for the upcoming campaign, insisting the attacker can prove his worth.

Mayo found life at Amakhosi challenging during his first season, scoring just once in 15 appearances while on loan from Algerian side CR Belouizdad.
Although his initial spell fell short of expectations, the Glamour Boys have opted to sign the former Cape Town City striker on a permanent deal, giving him another chance to establish himself and repay the club's confidence.
Tsotetsi urges Mayo to seize his chance
Tsotetsi believes the club made the correct call by keeping faith in Mayo, insisting the forward still has plenty to offer despite a disappointing previous campaign.
"They've made the right decision," Tsotetsi said. "Although last season didn't go as expected for him, the club clearly believes he still has a lot to contribute. Their decision shows confidence in his abilities, and now it's up to him to reward that trust with strong performances."
The former defender also feels the appointment of a new head coach could provide the ideal environment for Mayo to regain his confidence and fulfil his potential.
"He has to give everything because his talent is undeniable. I believe he is capable of producing far better performances this season because he is a quality player," Tsotetsi explained.
"The club has continued to back him even after a difficult campaign, which should motivate him. A new coach can bring renewed belief and fresh opportunities, and I'm confident he'll work hard to earn a regular place in the team."
Hernia surgery to delay Mayo's return
Mayo's road to recapturing form faces an immediate obstacle. The Bafana Bafana striker remained in South Africa while Kaizer Chiefs travelled to Spain for pre-season preparations, having undergone hernia surgery. He is not expected to be available for approximately two months, ruling him out of the club's pre-season tour.
Chiefs have recorded consecutive draws against Spanish side Elche and Saudi club Al Kholood during their preparations in Spain. Mayo will also likely miss the start of the Premier Soccer League season, with Amakhosi set to open their campaign against newly-promoted Kruger United.

Briefly News also reported that a South African international has decided to leave Kaizer Chiefs for a new club in Europe after a tremendous performance in the just-concluded season.
The Bafana Bafana star is expected to be competing in the UEFA Champions League next season with his new club.
