As it would happen, the two not only deep into each other's hearts but got so attached that Deborah relocated 9,000 miles away from home to settle in Bongo.

Saitoty is same age as Deborah's daughter

Daily Mail records that the woman was on a trip to the neighbouring country with her 30-year-old daughter Royce when she met Saitoty Babu, a man the same age as Royce.

The 2017 meeting would start a journey of romance which culminated in Deborah saying yes to Saitoty's marriage proposal.

They soon kickstarted plans of legalising the union and went ahead to have a Maasai wedding in June 2018 and white wedding in July 2022.

Interestingly, the pair is still planning on an even bigger Maasai celebration which will host many of their friends and relatives who missed out on the two earlier weddings.

Ridicule from society

Despite the couple enjoying marital bliss, they live amongst humans who have a tendency to judge and make assumptions.

Deborah says that countless times she has been asked why she adopted an adult, while her husband has been accused of being with her for the American connection.

"Saitoty has been accused of only being with me for a green card which hurts because I know how little his desire is to live in America," she said.

Never imagined they would be a couple

She remembered how they first met on a beach in Tanzania and took a photo, adding that after a long conversation they found out they had so much in common, like their sense of humour.

However, Deborah admits that it never crossed her mind during that meeting that they would be a couple based on their age difference.

"I was a happy, single woman and I didn't seem right to me to date someone 30 years younger," she said.

That would change when she went back to America at the end of her trip and continued having chats every day despite the 12-hour difference.

Deborah's kids supported her decision

Her decision was buoyed by the fact that her eldest daughter, Tiffany, 32, and son, Sherrick, 27, spoke to Saitoty on FaceTime and loved him.

"They didn't have an issue with the age difference and told me that if I was happy then I should go for it," she continued.

"I never expected to find a husband and marry someone so much younger than me but he is the kindest and most caring man. I couldn't be happier," she maintained.

Deborah has since moved to Ubena, Tanzania to live with Saitoty in his mud house and picked the Maasai name Nashipai.
