Gorden shares more of his story behind the dolls

Briefly News got in contact with Gorden to find out a bit more about what goes into making these dolls and how it all came about. We have to say, Gorden is a humorous man with a heartwarming soul.

Gorden explained that he lost work during Covid and was taught to crochet by his wife, who made the dolls as a side hustle for extra money.

"I think it's more a case of desperation than inspiration. My wife has been making bears for the last six or seven years. I have been doing handyman work, but since covid hit us, things have never gotten back to what they were. I think with so many people losing their jobs in covid, many guys thought they could be a handyman. That's why there are so many complaints about poor work done or people running away with deposits. Some months my wife Tania does well and other months we barely scrape through. With the financial situation in the country, everyone is hard hit, and it has affected us with fewer orders and work coming in. (And having a nagging mother-in-law doesn't help)"

"It is fine work which is difficult for me, so we found a method that is easier for me and can bring additional income for us. We have other ideas that we want to make, but obviously, finances are needed for the material. This was easier to start as we already had yarn in the house."

Supporting their two teenage children who are in high school, and a little granddaughter, Gorden and his wife are working tirelessly to provide.

"We hope the result of our venture would be to give children handmade toys that are safe, soft and cuddly. Obviously, financially we hope that our venture would give us the means to provide for our children and granddaughter."
