The soft-spoken Irene Mugo said that she desires to make a family struggling to have babies happy.

"I am a mom of two kids. I just desire to help a family with fertility issues to be happy and have a complete family as they desire," she said.

Mugo said she was ready and has spoken to concerned parties who might hinder her desire, and they have given her the go-ahead to do this.

Mugo shared her intention in a Kenyan surrogacy Facebook group listing her contact details for any family willing to engage her for the service.

"On agreement, we shall come up with an agreement with the family involved based on their needs. We shall also agree on everything else including charges," She said.

This comes when the Assisted Reproductive Technology Bill, 2019 that MP Millie Odhiambo sponsored is at its second reading.

The bill proposes the formation of the Assisted Reproductive Technology Authority. The authority will be mandated with developing standards and regulations on assisted reproduction.

There are currently no regulations in Kenya that govern this process which leaves both parties exposed to a conflict.
