When British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his girlfriend, Carrie Symonds, went for their end-of-year Christmas holiday, little did they know that this would generate controversy in months to come.

Following the holiday, the parliamentary standards commission says it is investigating the PM. This comes amid claims he may have broken the rules on declaring a luxury holiday to the Caribbean, The Guardian reports.

Meanwhile, swift reactions have met the latest development on social media.

Commenting on the development, @good4tune, wrote on Twitter:

"Should that headline be 'Watchdog finally gets round to investigating complaints made over a year ago'. Ineffectual wrist-slapping expected in 2022?"

@jebernstone also wrote:

"I do hope that media are not going to focus on that holiday. All we expect is an update on coronavirus and where we go from here, not time-wasting questions."

@Mikeuntold added:

"People don’t care. He could walk into the Bank of England and steal a gold bar and they wouldn’t care. If Putin came to London himself and handed him a sack of money with “SWAG” on the side of it live on TV they wouldn’t care. At this point he’s invincible."

In another report, former Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s planned medical trip to the United Kingdom.

In a tweet on Tuesday, March 30, the former lawmaker asked when the UK prime minister Boris Johnson would be coming to Nigeria for medical treatment.
