South African poet and activist Ntsiki Mazwai shared her thoughts on Operation Dudula’s target group, sparking mixed reactions.

Having earlier raised questions about Operation Dudula’s source of funding, Ntsiki Mazwai red-flagged the movement’s work with her latest tweet.

Ntsiki Mazwai criticises Operation Dudula for targeting only blacks

On Saturday, 15 November 2025, Mazwai shared her concerns regarding the Zandile Dabula-led movement’s operations. Taking to her official X (Twitter) account, the award-winning poet suggested that Operation Dudula was targeting one specific group of illegal immigrants over others.

In her tweet, which had been viewed over 300,000 times on the social media platform at the time of writing, Mazwai suggested that Operation Dudula targeted only black illegal immigrants out of fear of white people. The post read:

Social media users exploded with comments ranging from speculation, anger and criticism. While some speculated about Operation Dudula’s funders, some criticised Ntsiki Mazwai for calling the movement out for preferential treatment. Ntsiki Mazwai weighs in on Zandile Dabula’s nationality
