Cassper Nyovest stirred up conversation at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs) on 15 August 2026 when he took a thinly veiled shot at Limpopo Boy during his hosting duties. While working the crowd at the Sun City Superbowl alongside co-host Zanele Potelwa, the rapper cracked a joke about people from Limpopo and their apparent habit of failing to keep private moments from the cameras.
"They like shooting videos. You'd be having a private moment with them, and they ruin it by shooting videos."
The remark was a clear nod to the scandal that rocked social media when Limpopo Boy's private bedroom footage was leaked. The clip showed the dancer having a moment with Matshidiso Matilda, a married woman whose husband and family were reportedly left devastated by the revelation.
The jab may also have been fuelled by a more personal trigger. Not long before the SAMAs, Cassper went viral after responding to a follower who had used a screenshot of Limpopo Boy's face from the leaked video in the comments section of Cassper's own pictures with his wife. The rapper fired back, saying no one could steal his wife simply because of who he is. That exchange seemingly planted the seed for his on-stage quip.

Mzansi divided over Cassper Nyovest's comment
While parts of the audience found Cassper's bit amusing, social media users were far from united in their reaction.
nonz_nonie said:
"If the joke was about him, he'd be crying right now."
mzii_zizi wrote:
"Always dishing out what he can't take. If he was on the receiving end, he'd be pushing his crybaby antics."
Mshengu016 was stunned:
"I couldn't believe that he actually said that on live TV."
The criticism centred on Cassper's history of being vocal when he himself has felt targeted online, leading many to question whether the rapper would have laughed it off had the tables been turned.
