Jay-Z Rape Accuser Fully Recants, Says She Never Met the Rapper

A woman who publicly accused Jay-Z of sexual assault in late 2024 has now completely walked back every claim she made against him, stating under oath that she fabricated the allegations and has never even been in the same room as the Grammy-winning rapper.
In a 12-page declaration filed in Manhattan federal court and obtained by Rolling Stone, the Jane Doe wrote:
"Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever. There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter. I understand my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone."
According to Rolling Stone, the declaration was filed under penalty of perjury, and the woman confirmed she received no financial compensation in exchange for it.

How the accusations began
The saga began in October 2024 when the woman filed a lawsuit primarily targeting Sean "Diddy" Combs, alleging he raped her at age 13. The complaint also referenced an unnamed male celebrity. Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee later amended the lawsuit in December 2024 to identify Carter as that person, a move Carter has insisted came after he refused to comply with what he described as an "extortionate demand letter."
In her new declaration, the accuser revealed her involvement started after she responded to a Facebook ad in late September or early October 2024 looking for individuals with sexual assault claims against Combs. She also disclosed that she had shared certain mental health conditions with her legal team before they publicly named Carter.
Jay-Z's malicious prosecution case continues
Carter dropped the woman as a defendant following the new filing, but his malicious prosecution lawsuit against Buzbee and his law firm continues in New York federal court. Carter argues that Buzbee's team should have recognised before filing that her claims were inconsistent, publicly contradicted, and lacked credible investigation. The woman's new legal representative, James Blair Newman Jr., issued a statement saying:
"Mr. Carter did not rape her, sexually assault her, engage in any inappropriate conduct towards her, and she has never met him. She sincerely and unconditionally apologises to Mr. Carter and his family."
Buzbee, reached for comment after the declaration was filed, said he had not yet seen the document. He maintained that multiple lawyers on his team had heard the same account from the woman before he ever became involved, and reiterated his earlier position that sending a demand letter ahead of filing a lawsuit does not constitute extortion.
A California appeals court recently upheld the dismissal of Carter's state-level extortion case, ruling there was no evidence Buzbee made the allegations knowing them to be false.
