Music executive and outspoken commentator Nota Baloyi is back in the headlines after a clip from the Music Pulse podcast went viral on X on 12 October 2026. In the video, he sets his sights on media personality Dineo Ranaka, musician Kabza De Small, and traditional healer Gogo Maweni, making bold claims about celebrity culture, spirituality, and the music industry.

Nota targets celebrity spiritual beliefs

Filmed in a vibrant red-and-black gaming-chair setup with a neon "Music Pulse" logo in the background and a Chillers Punch-branded microphone front and centre, Nota spoke with animated gestures throughout. He argued that fame makes artists vulnerable to spiritual manipulation, warning that once someone becomes a celebrity, people approach them with prophecies and visions designed to exploit their status.

"As soon as you become famous, dog, people come to you and tell you, 'I've seen this vision, dog. I've been having this thing for like 20 years,'" he said. "If you buy into that stuff, you'll end up wearing a sphandla and doing all this nonsense and going crazy."

He went further, referencing artists hanging out with Gogo Maweni and describing it as "hocus pocus." Nota also claimed that after a previous Piano Pulse episode in which he accused certain artists of making "witchcraft music," Kabza De Small and his peers shifted toward gospel music. He then suggested Nigerian artists have adopted this pivot, and he believes they are copying the gospel sound.

Dineo Ranaka and Podcast and Chill drama

The clip gained extra traction because of its connection to Dineo Ranaka's earlier public clash with the Podcast and Chill network. Ranaka had previously called out the crew over a joke made about a missing mother who was later found dead. Nota's video is being seen as a broadside aimed at both the podcast world and the celebrities associated with it.
