Could Bonang Matheba be about to cement her place as the face of one of the world's most-watched beauty pageants? Miss Cosmo's official Instagram page lit up the internet on 16 October 2026, hinting that the South African media personality is in line to return as host of the Miss Cosmo 2026 pageant - and possibly for much longer than one season.

The announcement read less like a formal confirmation and more like the pageant making its case to Bonang directly. In the post, Miss Cosmo gushed over her 2025 performance.

"Bonang Matheba captivated audiences with her elegance, confidence, charisma, and undeniable stage presence. She brought a unique energy to the competition, proving that a truly exceptional host can elevate the entire experience and make every moment unforgettable."

Could Bonang become Miss Cosmo's permanent host?

What made the post particularly eyebrow-raising was the pageant going beyond simply asking whether she would return. Miss Cosmo posed a far grander question to its followers, asking whether Bonang could become "the signature face and the forever host of Miss Cosmo — a woman whose name becomes inseparable from the identity, prestige, and legacy of this international beauty pageant."

The pageant added: "If she returns in 2026, it could mark the beginning of a beautiful tradition and an iconic partnership that audiences look forward to year after year." Despite the warm language, Miss Cosmo stopped short of confirming her return as official.

As things stand, Bonang herself has not yet confirmed whether she will be taking up hosting duties at the 2026 edition of the pageant, which is held annually in Vietnam.

Her 2025 appearance set a high bar. Bonang co-hosted the international live broadcast alongside Vietnamese presenter Bùi Đức Bảo, turning heads both on stage and online. She showcased three distinct high-fashion looks created by African designers, drawing widespread praise across global and local social media for her poise, professionalism, and delivery.
