In the video, Black Coffee, who also went through a messy divorce with media personality Enhle Mbali, suggested that they were ill-advised about marriage because their fathers weren’t as successful as they are.
“To be a black, and I’m gonna use the word successful, today living in my country because there's no, there's no education, no school, in personal development. If you look at your father and my father, who he knew very well, they were not equipped with the skills to advise us to be the men we are,” Black Coffee said.

Black Coffee, who consistently serves couple goals with his Venezuelan girlfriend, urged Shoba to attend therapy as often as possible. He also encouraged him to frequently change therapists, arguing that one therapist isn’t enough. He gave his experience after he divorced, and how he saw two therapists, saying:
“Constantly sticking to therapy, and not all therapists can help you. Not all of them. When I was first going through my divorce stuff, the first therapist I saw, I told her, ‘I need you to help me get over the fact that I'm being told how horrible I am as a human being. I am starting to believe it. I need you to help me, please and if I am terrible, tell me.’ When I felt I was fine, I changed my therapist. I went to another one and I said to her, ‘Help me take responsibility for all my actions.’”

Netizens react to Black Coffee's marriage advice to Mnqobi Shoba
In the comments, several netizens accused Black Coffee of disrespecting his father and failing to take responsibility for his own actions. Some also linked his influence to Shoba's alleged infidelity.
Here are some of the comments:
@Ndoda_Ya_Khona argued:
“It's common knowledge that DJs are womanisers, and these two men are simply enjoying the perks of the job. The career is idolised for its casual benefits, and I'd argue that easy access to women is a perk almost as big as the financial rewards.”
@MorwaMapula shared:
“The sad part is to believe that being famous and rich, you are wiser than your father or grandpa. They are both divorced. So, bo bhari fela.”
@PediKingDavis said:
“Speaking about your father like this is every disrespectful.”
@Ntombenhle124 responded:
“Show me your friends and I'll tell you the type of person you are. He followed his friend's cheating ways hence he's also being divorced by Phumeza. Black men are a disgrace when it comes to building and maintaining the family structure.”
