Man Who Drove for 400km to Eliminate Baby Mama's Boyfriend Kills Wrong Person

A middle-aged man has been sentenced to 27 years in prison after being found guilty of murdering a man whom he thought was the boyfriend of his ex-girlfriend.

Man kills wrong target

Fox4News reported that Kendell Morris, 26, was sentenced after he was found guilty of murder in the death of Robert Cooley III.

During the trial proceedings, the court was told how Morris travelled for 400km to kill his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend but ended up killing the wrong man.

How many years will Kendell Morris serve in jail?

The Madison County Sheriff's Office said Morris drove from Houston to Arlington on May 4, 2020, to shoot his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, whom he did not know by name but only by description.

When Morris arrived at the apartment, he saw a man milling around the parking lot and thought he was his target because he had dreadlocks like those of his ex-girlfriend's boyfriend.

Without confirming if the man was his intended target, Morris shot Cooley dead and fled before he was arrested later.

"He thought he saw the boyfriend and opened fire, killing Robert Cooley III, 24, who was not the boyfriend," Sorrells said.

Meanwhile, a woman from Embu who cheated death after her estranged husband's failed attempt to kill her appealed for help.

The 25-year-old woman from Ngimari village, Embu county, survived her husband's plan after he got the houses mixed up, killing the wrong family.

She called on the national government to come to her aid and help get her two daughters, whom she claimed her ex-husband, Boaz Wanjala, had taken away without her knowledge.

The lady added that now that Wanjala had been apprehended after the arson attack, her children were no longer safe alone.

"I will be a key witness in the gruesome murders. I want to see to it that justice is done. Now that Wanjala has been arrested, I feel my children are not safe," Nation reported.

The suspect then fled the scene. When the police arrived, they discovered the woman on the floor and bleeding profusely. A case of murder has been opened, and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by the paramedics who attended to her.
