In a post on TikTok, a woman reflected on her career as a teacher. The lady shared some of the perks, and she made a comprehensive list of her experience.

The woman's TikTok shared on 17 June 2025 received more than a thousand likes from people who were impressed by her love for the job. Netizens also shared their thoughts on whether being a teacher was worthwhile after seeing all the benefits.

A TikTok post by a teacher, @indianah_walker, listed the seven benefits of being a teacher. The woman appreciates that she has consistent holidays between earning time off school and public holidays. South Africa typically has four school holidays that divide the school year into four terms. Second, the teacher appreciates that she never has to wear a uniform, so she gets to dress up almost every day.

The teacher also revealed that educators receive an extra paycheck. She said once a month in a year, teachers receive double payment, which she describes as "not that bad". She said teachers receive a subsidy for a medical health care plan, which is useful in South Africa where comprehensive medical aid costs R5,000 to over R10,000 for a family on average.

Another job benefit she appreciates is that she gets to knock off at 2.00 p.m. She also gets some free time when she doesn't have lessons. Finally, the lady said that being a teacher is very satisfying because she gets to change someone else's life, as some children see her as a role model and even a mother figure. She said:

"I love that I am a mother, even though I don't have biological children it makes my career amazing."
