The lotto announced one of the winners in the last week of August 2025. The Lotto player will walk away with a massive jackpot prize after making a small wager.

In a post on X, the National Lottery announced that on 27 August one person turned into a millionaire. The Lotto player is guaranteed R41, 541, 454.50 after they played their numbers using the Capitec banking app and spending R30.

The winner of the millions will be contacted by Capitec Bank and is due to receive counselling and professional financial advice. Psychological counselling for lotto winners is crucial. South Africa discusses R41M lotto winner

Online users were floored that one person won more than R40 million. Many referenced alleged corruption in the lotto as they expressed their disbelief. In 2024, the National Lotteries Comission was implicated in a scandal involving undue monetary benefits that allegedly went to late actor Presley Chweneyagae and Terry Pheto.
