Spring Day, observed on 1 September in South Africa, is widely celebrated by young people as a rite of passage marking the start of the warmer season. For this family, the day ended in tragedy rather than celebration. The mother appeared in a video reposted by @mtimde4 indicated that her son was killed which she described as "children playing among themselves", and it turned into death. The clip divided viewers sharply, with some expressing sympathy for the grieving mother while others directed their concern toward the older man involved.
