Man "Abducted" for Ransom Found With Side Chick in Lodge

  • Police have apprehended Farewell Moonga for faking his abduction to obtain money from his family
  • Moonga went missing, only to call family members claiming he had been "abducted" by criminals who were demanding ransom
  • However, investigations uncovered that the 55-year-old had been staying in a lodge with a woman who is allegedly his mistress

A 55-year-old man who was reported missing on 10 July 2024 has been found safe and healthy. Police launched an investigation into the alleged abduction of Farewell Moonga by unknown criminals who demanded a ransom of R2,104.50.

According to Mwebantu, authorities discovered Moonga with a woman inside one of the lodge's rooms.

The missing man visited his 31-year-old daughter on 8 July at around 3pm and never returned home.

Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale said this resulted in the daughter reporting her father missing.

"On July 10, around 12:30pm, his daughter informed officers that she received a phone call from an unknown person using Moonga's contact number," read the police report.

How did the police find him?

The caller allegedly identified himself as a police officer in charge of a station, but he did not disclose the name of the station.

The "officer" stated that they were holding the victim in custody and demanded money for his release. Mr Mwale reported that police ramped up their investigations, and on 13 July, they found the "victim" with a 37-year-old woman at a lodge.

Investigations revealed that R2,104.50 was required to settle the bills Moonga and the woman had accumulated at the lodge. Mr Mwale informed the media that Moonga is currently in police custody.

In other news, Briefly News reported that a Durban woman is making headlines for faking her kidnapping and going to extreme lengths to extort money from her husband.

In the video shared on Twitter by @VehicleTrackerz, Joseph stands in the middle of a field with her hands tied. As she begins to speak, the sound of a gun being cocked is audible in the background.
