What SA thinks of interracial couples

According to the Institute for Justice and Reconciliation, attitudes towards interracial marriage in South Africa have been slowly changing since apartheid ended. The Prohibition of Mixed Marriages Act was only repealed in 1985, allowing people from different racial groups to marry legally.

Research shows that the chances of someone marrying outside their race increased significantly between 1996 and 2011. In 1996, the odds were 303:1 against interracial marriage, but by 2011, this had dropped to 95:1, showing more people are choosing love over racial barriers.
