South Africans were left shaken after a Western Cape content creator raised the alarm about a deeply troubling situation unfolding in Johannesburg. The video, posted on 13 September 2026, urged women in Kempton Park to stay vigilant after four bodies were found in the same area over just two months.

The South African Police Service confirmed that all four victims were discovered half-naked with visible bruising in the Rhodesfield area of Kempton Park, Gauteng. The most recent body was found on Saturday, 12 September 2026. SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said police could not yet confirm whether the deaths were the work of a serial killer, but the similarities between the cases were serious enough to trigger an immediate public warning.

Women in and around the area are being strongly urged not to walk or run alone, to avoid secluded spaces, and to exercise only in groups.

SAPS Task Team launched

Acting National Commissioner Lieutenant General Puleng Dimpane ordered the immediate formation of a dedicated task team in response to the discoveries. The team is led by Gauteng Deputy Provincial Commissioner Major General Mbuso Khumalo and brings together specialised units, including the Murder and Robbery Unit and the Investigative Psychology Unit.

Police are calling on residents, motorists, private security personnel, and commuters who noticed anything suspicious in the Rhodesfield area to come forward. Tips can be submitted directly to Warrant Officer Elvis Manyike at 082 465 7249 or anonymously through the MySAPS mobile app.

Adding urgency to the situation, a 38-year-old woman named Elizabeth went missing while out on a run in the same Kempton Park area. Police confirmed they were actively searching for her and urged the public to share her details as widely as possible, both to warn other women and to help locate anyone who may have seen her.
