South African radio and TV personality DJ Warras weighed in on the Palestinian refugees being welcomed into South Africa on Thursday, 13 November 2025.

The former Live Amp presenter expressed his disappointment that South Africa welcomed refugees who, in his own words, are "not wanted anywhere in the world."

"Why are they not fleeing to Egypt? Because Egypt doesn’t want them. Why are they not fleeing to the UAE sections? Guess what: they don't want them. So, part of the deal that bailed out 'you know who' is that we must now accept ‘refugees’ from halfway across the world? This is madness."

"These people are not wanted anywhere in the world because they don’t want to assimilate. They want Palestine to go with them wherever they go. Very soon, they will become a problem in whatever community they’re forced on."

Briefly News reported that the group of 153 Palestinians had been stuck in a plane on the runway at the OR Tambo Airport for hours on Thursday, awaiting permission from the Border Management Authority (BMA) to disembark after arriving from Kenya.

It was revealed that the Palestinians were initially denied entry due to their lack of proper documentation. Moreover, they reportedly showed no intention of applying for asylum.

However, according to SABCNews on Twitter (X), Ashraf Essop, an Immigration lawyer, said some of the Palestinian refugees had transit visas after 23 from the group managed to leave for other destinations.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian aid organisation Gift of the Givers offered to accommodate the 130 Palestinian refugees during their stay.

Commenting on the organisation's gracious act, Warras said he hopes it has a plan for the refugees.

"Hopefully, Gift of the Givers has a plan. This is extremely troubling. Who made this deal? Why? We had the case at ICJ, now we are also providing safe refuge for unvetted people?"

In the comment section, South Africans continue to question why and how the Palestinians decided to come to the country. Read DJ Warras' rant below.

Online users react to DJ Warras' statement

The question on everyone's mind: "Why South Africa?"

Like DJ Warras, South African social media users expressed disappointment in the government for its alleged failure to enforce stricter laws.

Sbudamoore said:

"Now I fail to understand why South Africa, why everyone wants to come here. Guys, if you could see in Cape Town, the majority of the people are foreigners in this city, and I'm sure these ones will end up there too."

Thato_Elizabeth asked:

"Why does EVERYONE want to come here? They didn’t even know where they were gonna end up. They went to Kenya, and even Kenya was like, 'Nope, try SA.'"

"This is honestly distressing. We have no idea who we are housing. Worse, the women are pregnant to give birth where? Whose money will fund the hospital bill? Who said we need them here in the first place?"

"Whoever funded that flight was making a political point. This is likely related to the ICJ matter."

Malabie_L said:

"Classic playbook. Next thing, Israel will identify Hamas threats in SA, and we know how that goes."

lebzamdima added:

"This is such a security risk. The G20 is around the corner, and world leaders will be visiting SA. Why can't they go to Islamic countries? South Africa is a joke."
