Sundowns’ 10 Men Stage Comeback Against Gallants, Go 12 Points Clear of Pirates

Mamelodi Sundowns came from a goal down to defeat Marumo Gallants 3-1 in the Premier Soccer League at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein on Wednesday evening.
Sede Dion gave the home side the lead in the first half, but second-half goals from Marcello Allende, Lucas Ribeiro and Iqraam Rayners gave the visitors the deserved win.
The defending champions are now 12 points clear of Orlando Pirates, who had their match against Golden Arrows abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.

Sundowns defeat Marumo Gallants
Sundowns started the game as the best side and were close to going in front in the opening two minutes, but Teboho Mokoena's shot was unable to hit the target.

In the 10th minute, Rayners had the chance to do the same, but his effort went wide, with his former teammates at Stellenbosch also having his effort going off target ten minutes after that.
Marumo Gallants were back in the game, and their first threat to Sundowns' goal came after Daniel Msendami tried to catch Denis Onyango with an audacious strike from his own half in the 28th minute, but his effort was unable to hit the target.
On the half-hour mark, Ribeiro tried a curling effort, but Washington Arubi made a brilliant save to keep the scoreline goalless. Three minutes later, Allende tried to do the same but Marumo Gallants' goalkeeper made a comfortable save.

Against the run of play, Gallants took the lead in the 37th minute after Sede Dion headed in Msendami's cross past Onyango.
Before the halftime whistle was blown, Ribeiro and Rayners tried to pull Sundowns back into the game, but their efforts couldn't stop Gallants from going into the break with a 1-0 lead.
Miguel Cardoso's team came all out in the second half and found an equaliser six minutes after the restart. Allende effort in the box was too difficult for Arubi to save as the Brazilians pulled level.
Arubi continued to impress in Gallants' goal and denied Rayners from giving Masandawana the lead in the 63rd minute after pulling off a good save.
Seven minutes later the Gallants shot-stopper saved Allende's powerful shot before Onyango did the same for Sundowns to stop Junior Zindoga’s header.
The pressure from Sundowns paid off in the 78th minute as they took the lead for the first time in the math. Ribeiro was set up by Arthur Sales to hit double figures in goals in the Premier Soccer League this season.
The defending champions sealed all three points after Rayners pounced on a deflected attempt by Arubi to make the score 3-1.
