At 74 years old, he surpassed the previous record held by his great-great-grandmother, Queen Victoria, who ascended to the throne at the age of 18 after the death of her uncle, King William IV, in 1837.

King Charles III is 95 years old

King Charles III was born on November 14, 1927, as the eldest son of Prince George, Duke of Kent, and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark.

His grandfather was King George V, and his uncle was King Edward VIII, who famously abdicated the throne in 1936 to marry American socialite Wallis Simpson.

Charles III became first in line to the throne after his mother's death in 1968, but he had to wait over five decades to become king.
